Community Event Coordinator

Position Description: We are seeking a passionate, outgoing intern to schedule and manage community events at our vibrant community space on Alberta Street! CSE is a community supported space, offering a wide range of events and activities. As event manager, you will work with community members to fill our calendar with events, engage community groups and organizations, and make sure our events go smoothly! A great opportunity to gain experience in event coordination and organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach within the community to find people interested in holding events at the Guildhall
  • Receive, process, and respond to community event requests in a timely fashion
  • Coordinate scheduling for all community to events to ensure no overlap, sufficient time for clean-up, etc. between events
  • Ensure enforcement of rules for community use according to contract
  • Serve as contact point for any and all questions regarding community events
  • Orient all new hosts/facilitators on space use
  • Keep calendar updated
  • Work with all event hosts and Communications Manager to ensure strong event attendance (fliers, event invitations, outreach)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Able to respond to organizational needs in a timely manner
  • Highly communicative with internal and external resources
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ideally experience planning, organizing, and executing events
  • Able to commit 10-15 hours/week for at least 3 months
  • Able to juggle multiple responsibilities and competing priorities

Website Manager

Position Description: How can we leverage digital tools to create real-life community? CSE is looking for website manager interested in exploring the intersection of digital and face-to-face community. As website manager, you would engage in basic maintenance, problem-solving, as well as developing and adding features to our WordPress site. This position is a great opportunity to both demonstrate and improve your skills with WordPress, as well as explore new features that help CSE manage volunteers, share information, engage the community and the world online, and build an online platform for managing a community driven “Communiversity”.

Responsibilities:

  • Update website in response to organizational needs
  • Clarify mission, goals, progress on website as they develop for the organization
  • Provide IT support for email addresses
  • Communicate regularly with Directors and the Communications Manager to coordinate initiatives

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Able to respond to organizational needs in a timely manner
  • Highly communicative with internal and external resources
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ideally experience with WordPress, HTML, CSS

Community Enagement Coordinator

Position Description: We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and self-directed intern to engage the CSE community with events and programs tailored to the emerging interests and needs of the community. From 3D printing meetups to social justice organizing, CSE seeks to offer programs and events that are engaging, cutting edge, and relevant. As a Community Engagement Organizer, you would engage with an active community of artist and activists to identify emerging needs and opportunities, and work with the directors and event organizers to curate a program of events that catalyzes community action.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan events targeted at a wide community audience
  • Engage with community members to identify areas of interest and plan events around said interests
  • Work closely with Community Event Coordinator and Directors to select and plan events to maximize community engagement
  • Plan at a minimum biweekly events to increase community participation in CSE
  • Promote and recruit participants for engagement events

Bookkeeper

Position Description: We are seeking an open minded, adaptive, self-directed intern or volunteer to take on the task of keeping CSE’s finances clearly recorded and categorized. CSE is a community-supported space, offering a wider range of events and social opportunities to the community than are currently available at bars and coffee shops. Maintaining an alternative community space in a thriving commercial district like Alberta requires managing our finances clearly and strategically. This position is a great opportunity to build and demonstrate business and financial management skills while helping a grassroots community project thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain record of expenses
  • Maintain record of income sources (rent, membership dues)
  • Work with Cascade Education Project to maintain fiscal sponsorship
  • Manage accounts of both a non-profit project (Community Supported Everything) and a community driven LLC (Alberta Guildhall LLC)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Sincere interest in being part of a movement aimed at creating a thriving and balanced society, where all needs are met. The belief that humans can do better than this.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to engage in ongoing community dialogue.
  • Able to respond to organizational needs in a timely manner
  • Basic bookkeeping experience with willingness to advance skills
  • Bookkeeping experience with non-profit or for-profit organizations (ideally both)

Communications Manager

Position Description: Maintaining an active community relies on engaging, clear, and consistent communication! Community Supported Everything engages a wide variety of incredible projects, people and ideas and puts an emphasis on sharing information. We are seeking a positive and outgoing communications manager to manage our social media channels, and make sure our members and followers know about all the amazing things we have going on. This is a great opportunity to learn how to manage a social media outreach plan and help a community organization grow!

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly (ideally at least weekly, more when events/programs are being held) update social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Meetup, etc.)
  • Collect photos, quotations, information from course facilitators, members, etc. to publish on social media
  • Communicate regularly with Facilitators/Membership Manager/other program directors to obtain relevant information
  • Strategize with Directors, Volunteer Coordinator, etc. on outreach
  • Coordinate outreach efforts through tabling at conferences, organizing outreach events, helping to craft organizational language, etc.
  • Respond to members/interested parties on social media
  • Coordinate with partner organizations for cross-promotion, increased CSE/Guildhall awareness
  • Organize PR initiatives
  • Support facilitator and member blogs
